BUYING GUIDE

How to Choose a Linear Bushing Supplier in China: A Buyer's Checklist

If you import linear bushings for resale or distribution, you already know the product itself is not complicated. An LM-series bushing is a standard part, and dozens of factories in China can supply something that looks identical in a photo. The real differences — the ones that decide whether your customers reorder from you or buy from a competitor — are range, supply stability, and how the supplier works with you over the long term. This checklist covers what experienced importers verify before placing a first bulk order.

1. Confirm the Supplier Actually Specializes in Linear Bushings

General trading companies list thousands of bearing types but focus on none of them. A factory or factory-direct supplier that concentrates on linear bushings — the LM (standard), LMK (square flange), and LMF (round flange) series, plus SK shaft supports — understands an importer's business in a way a generalist never will. You can judge this with business questions, not technical ones: How long have you been exporting? Which markets do you mainly serve? Can you consolidate many different models into one shipment? A specialist answers immediately and in detail; a reseller has to "check and reply tomorrow."

2. Look for One-Stop Range

A distributor typically stocks standard bushings, square-flange and round-flange types, and shaft supports — often in a dozen sizes each. If one supplier covers that whole range, you can consolidate everything into a single mixed shipment: one negotiation, one payment, one freight bill, one customs entry. Buying each type from a different factory means multiple small shipments, higher per-unit freight, and a warehouse headache when partial deliveries arrive weeks apart. Before anything else, send the supplier your full model list and ask one simple question: can you supply all of this, in one shipment? The answer tells you a lot.

3. Check Supply Stability and Restocking

For a distributor, the worst problem is not a slightly higher price — it is running out of stock while a competitor down the road still has goods on the shelf. Ask how the supplier handles restocking and peak season: Do lead times stretch badly in busy months? Can they prioritize repeat orders? Suppliers located in established bearing-production clusters — such as Yandian Town in Linqing, Shandong, one of China's best-known bearing bases — sit inside a complete local supply chain, which supports steadier production scheduling and more dependable lead times. It is the base from which BPK Bearings supplies importers and distributors, and it is worth asking any supplier where exactly their production sits and how they keep supply stable when demand peaks.

4. Trial Orders, MOQ, and OEM Support

A supplier who wants long-term business makes it easy to start. Look for a reasonable minimum order quantity on a trial order rather than a bulk-only policy, and clear lead times for both the trial and regular orders. If you are building your own brand in your market, ask early about OEM support: neutral packaging, your own label, and custom carton marks. These details are much harder to arrange after the relationship has started, and a supplier who supports them from day one is signaling that they work with distributors — not just spot buyers.

5. Packaging That Survives Sea Freight

Linear bushings are heavy for their size and will rust if packaging is sloppy, so for export orders the details matter. Each bushing should be individually wrapped or tubed and treated against rust, then packed in cartons strong enough to take stacking weight for a month at sea. For mixed-model shipments, ask how models are separated and labeled inside the cartons — your warehouse team will thank you when a container with fifteen models arrives and every carton can be identified without opening it.

6. Start With Samples, Then Grow

Order samples of your three or four core models first — typically LM8UU, LM12UU, LM16UU, and LM20UU, plus the flange types and SK supports you plan to stock. Compare them against the brand you currently sell and let a trusted customer try them. Follow up with a small trial order before committing to bulk. A confident supplier sends samples quickly at a fair cost and welcomes the step-by-step approach, because gradual, verified orders are how lasting accounts are built.

7. Communication and Problem Handling

Notice how the supplier communicates before you pay anything. Do they confirm orders and specifications in writing? Do they warn you about a detail you got wrong in your inquiry? Most importantly, ask before you order how they handle problems: goods damaged in transit, a shortage in the count, or the wrong model shipped. Every supplier looks good when nothing goes wrong. A willingness to reship, replace, or compensate fairly — stated clearly in advance — is one of the strongest signals that a supplier is in the relationship for the long term.

Quick Red-Flag Summary

  • Range is incomplete, forcing you to buy from several factories
  • Trial-order minimums are unreasonably high
  • No OEM support: no neutral packaging, labels, or carton marks
  • Replies are slow, vague, or never in writing
  • No export experience with importers or distributors

Choose on how a supplier will work with you over the next five years, not on the lowest number in the first quotation, and your second order — the one that actually builds your business — will go smoothly.
